We thoroughly enjoyed a visit this weekend from Corinne, my dear friend from college who is always a big hit with the kids. We still laugh about when Corinne came to visit two years ago and I explained to Josh beforehand that some people were coming to see us (another college friend was coming as well). Corinne arrived first, and Josh began calling her "People"--the logical connection, of course, was that "people" were coming to visit.
Corinne is a brave soul, as she accompanied us out to lunch after church with our small group. She took another step toward sainthood as she graciously endured the food-throwing, yelling Molly and entertained Josh.
Here's the best shot I could get of Molly, and it pretty much sums up her attitude and why we don't take the kids to sit-down restaurants:
The real reason Corrine came to visit was to attend the wedding of another college friend on Saturday. Here we are with Rita, who was Corinne's senior year roommate and my senior year next-door neighbor. It was a lovely wedding, and I have to commend Rita on the depth of her longstanding loyalty to our Tar Heels. Even though she was marrying a supposedly hard-core N.C. State fan, everything at the wedding was Carolina blue and white.
